Ckay new single with Davido – Trash or make sense?

CKay has had it good this past year.

A Billboard Hot 100 entry, a viral global hit, and many international accolades and certifications. He sure has done much better than most of his peers.

But like everything, even that exposure is beginning to fade. Now the real test—the test of time—begins. He has to continue making stuff that will keep him relevant in a scene he was once on top of.

While it’s silly to imagine that he’ll have another “Love Nwantiti,” it’s well within his means to do normal, local hits. He did “Emiliana” a while back and that was cool. A hit song that did mad numbers. But unlike his timeless hit, its shelf life was quite short.

What this meant for CKay was that he needed to start releasing more music. He’s a good guy and he’s up to the task, so why the hell not? So, what does he do? He makes more music, but he quickly finds out that, it’s not quite the same again.

Now he needs a strategy. Well, he found one. Feature Davido and Focalistic, the duo that made “Ke Star” and “Champion Sound” such great hits all over Africa—especially in the South. Will this work for him?

It will take a while before the numbers say anything but judging purely based on the music, this song is absolutely nothing to write home about. And that has nothing to do with Davido or even Focalistic.

The problem is, this isn’t CKay. This isn’t what he’s good for. This silly attempt at making an amapiano hit is dead on arrival. Even Davido couldn’t save this song.
